Disclaimer
Last updated 23 June 2026.
This page sets out the formal disclaimers and disclosures for Melbourne West Kitchen Renovations ("the website", "we", "us", "our"), covering how we carry out building work in Victoria, the limitations of the information published here, and the regulatory framework for residential building work.
How we carry out building work
We are a kitchen renovation business. We design and manage kitchen renovations, and we engage our own independent licensed subcontractors, such as plumbers and electricians, to carry out the regulated trades within a project. Those subcontractors hold the registrations and insurances required under Victorian law for the work they perform, and the relevant compliance certificates for plumbing and electrical work are provided to you on completion. Your contract for the renovation is with us, in writing, and we are your single point of contact throughout.
General advice warning
Information on this website is general in nature and should not be relied on as professional advice for your specific home or project. Site conditions, scope, materials and labour costs vary. Always obtain a written quote before signing any contract. The information here is current as at the date stated, and regulations and scheme amounts change over time.
Domestic building contracts in Victoria
In Victoria, domestic building work over $10,000 must be covered by a written major domestic building contract under the Domestic Building Contracts Act 1995. We supply this in writing as part of your quote. The contract sets out the scope of works, the contract price, the start and end dates, the payment stages, the variations process, the warranty terms, and the dispute-resolution pathway. Consumer Affairs Victoria provides a 5-business-day cooling-off period on major domestic building contracts in most circumstances. Domestic building insurance or Home Warranty Insurance applies where the current Victorian threshold and scheme rules require it. You can confirm the current figures at vba.vic.gov.au, building.vic.gov.au and consumer.vic.gov.au.
Benchtop materials and engineered stone
Engineered stone containing 1% or more crystalline silica has been banned for manufacture, supply, processing and installation across Australia since 1 July 2024 under the model Work Health and Safety Regulations administered by Safe Work Australia. New benchtops are installed in low-silica alternatives such as porcelain or sintered stone, natural granite or marble, solid timber, stainless steel, laminate, or low-silica engineered stone under 1% crystalline silica. Engineered stone benchtops installed before 1 July 2024 are grandfathered and do not require replacement; any removal or modification follows silica-safe procedures. See safeworkaustralia.gov.au for the current rules.
Calculator and tool outputs
The cost calculator and other interactive tools on this website produce indicative outputs only, based on simplified industry assumptions drawn from published Melbourne kitchen renovation cost guides and the HIA Kitchens and Bathrooms survey base rates. Real prices vary by site conditions, supplier availability and prevailing market conditions. Our written, fixed-price quote takes precedence over any indicative figure shown on this website.
Photographs and imagery
Photographs on this website that depict kitchens, work contexts or design vignettes are illustrative editorial images. They are used to convey style and quality and do not necessarily depict a specific completed project or a specific client's home.
